Limerick Printmakers winter members exhibition

Limerick Printmakers (LP) are proud to announce that its annual Winter Members Exhibition will be displayed in the Belltable at 69 O’ Connell street from Friday 25th November to Saturday 17th December inclusive. The opening night of the exhibition will take place from 6pm on Thursday 24th November with the Belltable’s programme manager Marketa Dowling featuring as opening speaker.
This will be the fourteenth Limerick Printmakers Winter Members Exhibition, an event that has become an integral part of LP’s annual programming. LP is dedicated to showcasing and celebrating the scope and talent that exists among Limerick Printmakers studio members while simultaneously highlighting the multitude of printmaking techniques and processes that are in popular use today. The breadth of work on show ablely reinforces how expansive printmaking has become as an artform.
Limerick Printmakers current group of studio members encompasses practicing artists and printmakers, photographers, recent graduates across various artistic disciplines alongside graphic designers, teachers and lecturers. There is a dynamic blend of established, mid-career and emerging artists working from the studio. LP is committed to supporting and representing its approximately 55 members through a range of activities including its exhibition programme which strives to promote high quality contemporary printmaking from the mid west and Munster regions.
The Limerick Printmakers artists featured are Ailbhe Barrett, Mike Byrne, Emer Casey, Sinead Dinneen, Pamela Dunne, Aine Finnegan, Deirdre Gallagher, Helena Grimes, Gavin Hogg, Dan Kenny, Joe Lane, David Lilburn, Yvonne Locke, Moya Ni Cheallaigh, Tony O’ Loughlin, Kate O’ Shea, Verona Stellet, Paul Tarpey, Clodagh Twomey, Isabella Walsh. Many of the LP members featured in the show have exhibited nationally and internationally and are represented in some of the most respected public and private collections in Ireland & abroad. The work featured in the show has been selected a panel featuring LP board member Mary O’ Dea, LP manager Jess Tobin and Marketa Dowling of the Belltable.
The range of methods and techniques on show includes woodcut, collography, carborundum, chine-collé, silkscreen, letterpress, monoprints, etching, photography and photo etching. Several of the works selected explore printmaking via 3D forms. The diversity that exists within both the members of Limerick Printmakers and the processes they utilise to create their work is illustrated in this stimulating and vibrant body of work that reinforces the relevance of the studio within Limerick’s vigorous and exciting artistic community and also that of the strength of printmaking as a exciting and versatile artform.
This is a fantastic opportunity to explore the most recent output of a fine art printmaking studio that has been in existence in Limerick city for over seventeen years. Printmaking is an affordable and accessible form of art, being of high quality and of a collectable nature. All artwork on show is available to purchase.
